At the age of 16 riding a moped or 50cc scooter is the only means of getting mobile on the roads. Although you are limited to only that engine capacity, there is still an attractive choice of vehicles available to you. Small capacity scooters and twist and go mopeds have a fashionable urban chic about them. They are super reliable, easy and relatively cheap to maintain and very economical to run.
So, if you are sick of standing in a bus queue isn't it about time you got yourself trained and become mobile?
Before you can start riding a moped on the road, you must first get your provisional licence (application form available from most post offices) and then complete your compulsory basic training (CBT). You can then start riding a moped on the road as a learner with some restrictions in place e.g. your moped must have L plates.
At the age of 16, a day spent with us at Easy Rider will be an enjoyable and invigorating experience, getting you on the right path to safe riding and instilling maturity and confidence. Make your first motorcycle experience a good one!
The next step towards getting your full moped licence is the motorcycle theory test. When you've passed this test you can book your practical moped test. Success in the practical moped test will get you a full moped licence (also called a full category P entitlement). This allows you to ride your moped without the provisional licence restrictions.
Once you have reached the age of 17 your CBT gained on a moped is also valid for motorcycles, so you will not need to take your CBT again in order to train for another age relevant licence.
Remember however, a CBT certificate is only valid for two years.
